I picked up my first camera when I was seven years old. My parents bought it for me, and I was thrilled to be able to document everything that was happening around me. I mainly photographed my family and friends because people’s interactions fascinated me: unpredictable and unprompted, and often entertaining.

In 1998 I moved to the United States from Argentina and decided to enroll in my first black and white photography course at a Community Darkroom in Rochester, New York. Photography became my passion. I would spend very long days printing black and white photos in the darkroom. I even set up my own darkroom at home. In 2000, I moved to the Bay Area and enroll in a few classes at San Jose State University, finally graduating with a BFA in photography in 2005.

The theme in my images has remained the same throughout my life. I am still fascinated by people: their reactions and interactions. My photographs are influenced by the style of documentary photographers: my work embraces spontaneity. I generally avoid posing my subjects. Even when I do more formal portraits, I encourage people to be spontaneous. I like capturing people’s reactions and feelings without them being aware of my presence. During my photography sessions, I place great emphasis on making sure everyone is at ease in front of the camera.

I am particularly interested in photographing children. I have two daughters of my own, and I find their candor and naturalness extremely appealing. I do formal, as well as candid portraits of children, adults and families. I also photograph any kind of social gatherings.
